Parents and students in Kenya are anxiously awaiting the release of the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam results.
Are the KCSE results for 2024 expected to be delayed?
The Minister of Education has reassured the public and Kenyans in general that the results will be made available without any delay.
Kenya’s Chief Administrative Secretary for Education Belio Kipsang affirmed on Thursday, 26 December 2024 that the results will be released within the same timeframe as the previous year, despite rising speculation about potential delays.
“This is the second year we are releasing results in January. The inconvenience is that, when we used to release in December, everyone would say they were rushing to release results,” said Dr. Kipsang.
Kipsang also dismissed claims of manipulation, emphasizing that the results’ legitimacy has been maintained.
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is working to finalize the analysis of results for the largest cohort on record in KCSE history.
The council is also examining the results of the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA), which is further increasing its workload.
Leaders of the education community have asked the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) to be honest about their evaluation process. The president of the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association, Willy Kuria, asked KNEC to stop using ranking systems and to review how teacher promotions are given, which he believes causes too much stress and encourages cheating.
“We support policies that focus on improving overall student growth rather than a single, narrow score,” said Mr. Kuria.
Dr. Kipsang reassured the public that examiners had received sufficient time to guarantee the accuracy and impartiality of the exams.
The grade each student earns is a direct result of their efforts and dedication over the past four years.
When are the 2024 KCSE results going to be released?
Preparations Secretary Kipsang said on December 26, 2023, that the 2024 KCSE results would be released in 10 days’ time.
Given that the ten-day period has come and gone, it is likely that the results could be announced at any time this week.
